Let McGruff the Paramilitary Crime Dog take a bite out of your childhood
As I’m writing this, Secretary of Blackout Drunk Banana-Daiquiri Binging Pete Hegseth is threatening to send Marines into Los Angeles. And an LAPD sniper1 in downtown Los Angeles is pointing his rifle at anti-ICE protesters on the street. Because ICE's racist kidnapping spree must be protected at all costs. Our bloated military/police state is just itchin’ to rehearse World War III on America’s civilians: their captive, forced-participatory audience. With all the state of the art terror, maiming and killing apparatuses burning a hole in our governments deep pockets, why not?
For context: we should recall how Barack Obama sent three quarters of a billion dollars in battlefield weapons every year to this country's police. That’s twenty-four times what Bush sent. Why? Because no good Democrat could ever live with themselves if they didn’t do their darndest to outdo Republicans at being Republicans.

What else could we possibly expect from a society that normalized over 1.5 million COVID deaths and then promptly forgot about it? What else could we possibly expect from a society that funded and militarized Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians? And armed our police departments with military-grade weaponry, equipment and personal armor? Now almost every town in the country with a population over 50,000 has a SWAT team.

Writing that paper or studying for finals in the local library or your dorm room? Let McGruff the Paramilitary Crime Dog take a bite out of your childhood, separate you from your parents, and abduct you in his tank down to the detention center.

Alright, calm the fuck down, everybody. Social Justice Icons Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass assure us that deploying extra California Highway Patrol on our streets while ICE and the DHS attack your neighbors is all in the spirit of maintaining “safety on Los Angeles highways to keep the peace.”
That’s what those 24 SWAT snipers are for. There’s no better way to “keep the peace” than to point that sparkling new sniper rifle night-scope at that guy two stories below on his skateboard. And a big, hearty “thank you, Brave Men & Women Cop Folk,” for caring enough about public health to wear those masks completely concealing your identities. You really put the “P” in Protect and Serve.
“We will not stand for this.”
Du-oh! And yet, you have. Criminalizing the homeless, normalizing outrageous rents and adding to the already obscene LA Police budget while ignoring social services kinda does that. And so does setting up perimeters for ICE raids.
Sounds crazy, but just maybe you can’t “keep the peace” by pointing sniper rifles at people on the streets. Nor by enabling kidnappers.
Ignoring the people and precedents that opened every door possible for what’s happening now, is insanity. Pretending our current descent into Nazi chaos suddenly sprung from a vacuum, is insanity. Still allowing Obama, Clinton, Biden, Harris to have tremendous influence over their party as it blames its shameful losses on progressives and not themselves, is insanity.
Oh look, LAPD cops shooting journalists. And masked snipers threatening people on the street. Who do we think we are, Israel?
And yes, the LAPD is actively assisting ICE. Pointing snipers at people is assisting. Using "battle ready" weapons given to it by Obama and his successors, is assisting. And pretending that Barack Obama’s appointment of Tom Homan as head of ICE in 2013 has nothing to do with what’s happening now, is also assisting.
